Search Chickasaw County Criminal Court Dockets

To pull a criminal case in Chickasaw County, first figure out which court holds it. Chickasaw County criminal court dockets live in a few places: Circuit Court for felonies, Justice Court for misdemeanors, and a city Municipal Court for local tickets. The statewide electronic system covers eligible Circuit Court records. For anything else, the local clerk is the person to see. Start with a case number if you have one, then verify the court, caption, and current status before trusting any single docket entry.

Chickasaw County Criminal Docket Searches

Begin with the right court. Felonies belong to Circuit Court, which splits its work between the Houston First Judicial District and the Okolona Second Judicial District. For public, nonrestricted Circuit MEC dockets, register through Public Access to Mississippi Electronic Courts. The account is read-only for eligible material. A case number gives you the sharpest search. A party search works too. But check the results against the court, district, caption, filing date, and case type.

Plenty of cases sit outside the Circuit Clerk's file. City ordinance matters and municipal misdemeanors may rest with another office. So can preliminary felony stages and Justice Court misdemeanors. The statewide system is not a free all-court county index. Keep any citation, charging paper, or prior court document at hand, since it often names the court and district you need to reach the right docket.

  1. Identify whether the matter belongs in Circuit Court, Justice Court, or a Houston, Okolona, or New Houlka Municipal Court file.
  2. For an eligible Circuit Court matter, create the appropriate PAMEC account and select the court location available after login.
  3. Search by case number first. If it is not known, use the narrowest party and court filters the permitted portal screen provides.
  4. Compare the caption, district, initiation date, and status before reading events, notices, and documents.
  5. Call or visit the clerk who keeps the case when the result is missing, restricted, unclear, or certification is needed.

Note: A general term calendar cannot replace confirming a case-specific criminal setting with the clerk who keeps that docket.

Chickasaw County Circuit Dockets Use MEC

MEC is the electronic home for Chickasaw County Circuit Court criminal dockets. The Third Circuit MEC court-information page lists both Chickasaw Circuit Court locations as live on the system. Its status date is February 24, 2025. One thing it will not do is hand you a single merged Chickasaw County criminal docket. Chancery, Justice, and city Municipal Court records sit outside MEC. So a case filed there will not surface in a circuit docket search.

The court-information screen separates the two local locations before you ever open a case. That split matters. A caption or party name can look alike across offices. Picking the wrong location sends your case lookup astray. Within MEC, the electronic docket can display public notices, events, and documents where access is allowed. Even so, the circuit clerk's file is where an official copy lives. For the full system context on the two Chickasaw County locations, see the Third Circuit MEC court information page. It spells out what each location reports.

Treat the displayed court location as a routing clue. When a docket entry needs confirmation, verify the case record with the Houston or Okolona Circuit Clerk before acting on it.

Criminal Dockets: What They Show

A criminal docket sheet is a chronological list of case events. It is not a story. For Chickasaw Circuit Court, the available inventory draws on MEC and administrative materials, since a live public criminal search screen takes a paid account. Even so, it can point you to the court and district, a case number, the caption, filing or initiation date, charging-event category, settings, motions, orders, disposition, appeal activity, and public status flags.

Read those fields together. A plea label, capias entry, or closure flag never replaces the event text, order, or disposition behind it. When an entry touches a current obligation or court date, ask the clerk for the underlying document. Do not draw a conclusion from a short label.

Court and districtIdentifies whether the docket belongs to the Houston First Judicial District or Okolona Second Judicial District.
Case numberThe court-assigned identifier, such as case number shown on the court notice, used to distinguish similar captions.
Caption and filing dateShows the public case style and when the matter began or was initiated.
Charging and setting eventsMay show the charging category, arraignment, plea, trial setting, notices, and event dates.
Orders and dispositionPoints to motions, orders, a judgment or disposition, costs, appeal activity, and public closure flags.

Chickasaw County Criminal Justice Court Route

Justice Court is not Circuit Court. In Chickasaw County it handles preliminary felony matters, misdemeanors, and other lower-court criminal work, so its docket may show activity from before a case was bound over or after an appeal. A Circuit Court criminal docket search alone can miss that earlier stage entirely.

Each post has its own clerk. Post 1 is the Houston route, and Post 2 is the Okolona route. The state directory lists the Post 1 clerk at (662) 456-3941. The Post 2 clerk sits at (662) 447-3402. Call whichever post your court notice or issuing location identifies. Give the case details you have. Ask whether the file is still there or has moved to Circuit Court.

Routing point: A bind-over or appeal can create a Circuit Court record, but the original Justice Court docket remains a separate lower-court file.

Criminal Case Stages on the Docket

Criminal docket entries in Chickasaw County tend to follow a familiar arc: filing, arraignment, pretrial work, plea or trial, disposition, and sentencing-related activity when public. The sequence helps you place a case in time. It is not rigid, though. A case can carry several settings, motions, orders, or continuances before any final event appears.

Trust the written order and the current setting for controlling detail. A docket call or notice of setting usually deals with scheduling. It does not deal with the merits. An appeal marker works the same way. It names a new review path without telling you what happened in the lower court.

Typical docket path: Filing → Arraignment → Pretrial → Plea or Trial → Disposition → Sentencing-related event.

Note: The next listed event can change. Verify any upcoming criminal hearing with the court that issued the notice.

Chickasaw County Municipal Criminal Docket Fallback

Houston, Okolona, and New Houlka each run a Municipal Court for city ordinance, traffic, and municipal misdemeanor matters. Those files never sit in Circuit Court. They stay with the city. The 2026 Mississippi judiciary directory supplies the contact routes for each municipal court, but there is no countywide municipal docket search, so city hall or the municipal clerk is the direct fallback for a case that arose inside city limits.

Have your details ready when you call. Give the clerk the court notice, citation or case number, full case style if known, and the approximate date. A PAMEC no-match does not close the question. Ask three things. Is the municipal file open to public inspection, has a court date been set, and how do you request an ordinary or certified copy?

Start with Houston's administration directory, Okolona's department directory, or New Houlka's official department page.

Chickasaw County Criminal Docket Courts

Chickasaw County Circuit Court handles felony criminal filings. That is the principal trial-court route. The Circuit Clerk keeps the file and processes qualifying appeals arriving from lower courts. Two Circuit Court locations operate in the county. Follow the Houston or Okolona district shown on the case papers instead of treating the county as one undifferentiated docket office.

Justice Court splits into Post 1 and Post 2, each with its own clerk records. Municipal clerks keep their own city files too. The county courthouse directory lists the Houston and Okolona office locations along with their regular hours. Federal criminal cases run through a separate system. Chickasaw County sits in the Northern District of Mississippi's Aberdeen Division, which uses the federal clerk and PACER, not the Chickasaw Circuit Clerk.

A local ticket, a lower-court misdemeanor, a state felony, and a federal prosecution are not the same case lookup. That court-by-court routing is what keeps them apart.

Chickasaw County MEC Criminal Flags Need Context

Flags in Third Circuit MEC are procedural labels, nothing more. You might see several of them. The list includes Arraignment Pending, BOUND OVER, Capias Pending, Nolle Pros Pending, Plea Pending, Trial Pending, Probation, APPEAL, SEALED, EXPUNGED, or CLOSED. None of them establishes what a court found. Nor do they fix the final effect of an order.

BOUND OVER can signal a route from a lower court toward Circuit Court. Capias Pending deals with arrest or custody process. Nolle Pros Pending marks a pending nolle prosequi event. Plea Pending and Trial Pending identify unresolved stages. Get the real context. Read the related docket entry or request the order from the proper clerk.

Arraignment
A criminal proceeding where the charge is addressed and a plea process occurs.
Capias
A writ or process directing arrest or custody under court authority; its effect depends on the entry.
Nolle pros
A docket term associated with a prosecution event that should be read with the filed order or disposition.
Closed
A system closure flag that does not explain why the criminal case closed.

Access Rules for Criminal Dockets

Remote access runs through a narrow channel. The Mississippi Electronic Court System administrative procedures limit remote public access to nonrestricted civil and criminal electronic records, and only through PAMEC subscribers. The same procedures allow electronic viewing at a courthouse or clerk's office during regular hours, subject to court access rules. That on-site viewing is free. Confirm copying and certification charges with the clerk.

The rules also cut two ways. Sealed, expunged, youth, and redaction-sensitive records need special care. A SEALED, Sealed_Case, or EXPUNGED label is an access warning, not an invitation to infer the record's contents. Ask the Circuit Clerk about the applicable access process, whether a public docket shell exists, and whether an order, motion, or proof of authority is required.

Public-access rule: PAMEC is paid remote access for eligible, nonrestricted records. The courthouse route and the clerk's file remain important when a docket is restricted, incomplete, not imaged, or needed as a certified record.

Note: Do not copy or republish protected identifiers, or information about minors, from a docket display.

Chickasaw County Criminal Docket Access Costs

PAMEC charges non-attorneys two fees. Registration runs $10 a year. Each page a search returns costs $0.20, including a page that is never viewed, printed, or downloaded. A no-match search still counts as one page. The PAMEC non-attorney terms also explain the account and billing rules.

No official Chickasaw schedule fixes a price for a paper criminal copy, a certified copy, mailing, or a clerk research request. Ask the keeper before paying. Get the quoted amount, the accepted payment method, and whether mail or fax requests are accepted for that file. For a final record, use the clerk rather than an electronic result alone.

Registered users sign in at the PAMEC login screen. That page is the public entry point for account access.
