Find Chickasaw County Court Dates

Need a Chickasaw County court date? Start by figuring out which court holds the case and which district it was filed in. A Chickasaw County court schedule will tell you when Circuit or Chancery Court terms are planned, while a single docket entry or notice carries the hearing details for one case. Justice Court and municipal matters run on their own calendars. Confirm any setting through the Chickasaw County court docket, then call the clerk or court if a date, event, or location looks unclear.

How the Chickasaw County Court Calendar Works

The published 2026 calendars for Chickasaw County are term calendars. Each one names a court, a judicial district, a term start, and a term length. That tells you when Circuit Court or Chancery Court plans to sit in Houston or Okolona. It does not promise a hearing for every case each day. For the actual appearance date, something else controls. A notice of setting, a docket event, a clerk's confirmation, or a court order governs. The split matters. Chickasaw County Circuit Court sits in the Third Circuit District. Its First Judicial District location is in Houston. Its Second Judicial District location is in Okolona. Chancery Court is calendared separately in the Fourteenth Chancery District. Justice Court Post 1, Justice Court Post 2, and the municipal courts of Houston, Okolona, and New Houlka each keep distinct files and dates. A city ticket does not land on a Circuit Court term calendar. That remains so even within Chickasaw County. Both the 2026 Circuit Court terms and the 2026 Chancery Court terms come from the Secretary of State. They are statewide publications. They supply the published term framework. For a particular matter, the case docket itself can show the next event when public access is open.

Chickasaw County Circuit Court Calendar Terms

For 2026, the Houston First Judicial District Circuit Court term blocks begin March 17, May 5, September 8, and December 1. The first three run two weeks. December is one week. In Okolona, Second Judicial District terms begin January 21 for eleven days, April 7 for one week, July 14 for two weeks, and October 6 for one week. These dates tell you which district's term may be active. They do not tell a party when to arrive. A docket call, arraignment, pretrial event, trial setting, or motion hearing can carry its own date and time. Two cases can sit at very different procedural stages. That is true even when both are set during the same Chickasaw County term. Note: a listed term is a scheduling block. It is not confirmation that an individual Chickasaw County case will be heard that day.

Chickasaw County Court Date Lookups

Start with the case number when you have it. Then pin down the court and district. Public nonrestricted Circuit Court civil and criminal docket sheets, notices, and electronic documents may be available through Public Access to Mississippi Electronic Courts, or PAMEC, after registration. The Third Circuit MEC page confirms that both Chickasaw County Circuit locations are live in MEC. Treat PAMEC as a remote docket channel, not an anonymous daily-calendar board.

  1. Check the appropriate 2026 Circuit or Chancery term publication to identify the Chickasaw County district and the broader term period.
  2. For an eligible Circuit case, review the public PAMEC docket after a registered account is available and look for notices, events, or a setting.
  3. Call the Circuit Clerk, Chancery Clerk, Justice Court clerk, or municipal clerk that keeps the file. The county courthouse directory identifies the Houston and Okolona office locations and general hours.
  4. Visit the proper clerk office during regular hours when the online record is unavailable, restricted, or unclear, and ask whether the electronic record or paper file can be viewed.
  5. Confirm the case-specific date, time, court, and event type with the clerk or court before relying on a term date. Municipal and Justice Court dates require their own clerk confirmation.

The county offers no public daily calendar, no text-alert service, no searchable settings board, and no official next-date tool. If you have a lawyer, use the notice sent through counsel. Then confirm any uncertain entry with the keeper of the Chickasaw County file.

Chickasaw County Chancery Calendar Terms

Chancery Court runs on a different pattern. The 2026 Houston terms open on the fourth Monday in February, the second Monday in June, the fourth Monday in September, and the fifth Monday in November. Each is listed for one week. Okolona terms open on the second Monday in January, second Monday in May, fourth Monday in August, and second Monday in October, also one week each. That Monday rhythm suits the probate, estate, guardianship, domestic-relations, land, and equity matters assigned to Chancery Court. It still does not replace a notice of setting. The Chickasaw County Chancery Clerk maintains the Chancery file, and a specific hearing can be continued, reset, or changed without the published term list ever moving.

Court Settings: What Each Field Means

A setting is a scheduled court event. Read the whole entry. Do not treat the date alone as an order to appear. The court and location fields separate Houston from Okolona. An event label tells you whether the entry records an arraignment, a trial setting, a notice of setting, a docket call, a hearing, or some other procedural step. A status may show that an event was reset or continued, but the clerk should settle any ambiguity.

DateThe scheduled date for the identified event, not necessarily the date every case in a term is heard.
TimeThe listed appearance or docket-call time. Confirm it when the docket does not display a time.
Court / locationThe Circuit, Chancery, Justice, or Municipal Court file and the Houston or Okolona district when applicable.
JudgeThe presiding judge when the public setting or docket makes that field available.
Setting typeThe event label, such as notice of setting, arraignment, pretrial, hearing, trial setting, docket call, reset, or continuance.

A court term covers a period. A notice of setting marks a case event within, before, or after that period. A continuance or reset moves an event. These distinctions keep an old docket entry from being mistaken for the current Chickasaw County court date.

Chickasaw County Term Calendar Limits

Two different tools answer two different questions here. A term calendar answers the first question. It tells you when a Chickasaw County court plans to hold a term of court. It does not tell you when your case is set. That answer lives in the docket sheet, a notice, or an order. The clerk can confirm it. No public daily county calendar replaces that second step.

Lower courts make the gap even wider. A Justice Court traffic matter can carry a date. So can a case in Houston, Okolona, or New Houlka municipal court. That date may never show up in the Third Circuit term document at all. Federal bankruptcy works differently. Its interactive public calendar offers a 30-day view of hearings and meetings. Yet it says plainly that it is not the official docket. Any public calendar information should be checked against the actual case record. The official bankruptcy calendar below shows how such a public interface looks. Its limit is the same lesson: a Chickasaw County term calendar still needs a case-specific confirmation from the record itself.

A public term calendar, even where one exists, carries a defined scope and cannot replace an official case docket. The Chickasaw County state-court settings it omits still live on the docket itself.

Chickasaw County MEC Docket Settings Trail

A term calendar covers a whole court term at a glance. For a public nonrestricted Circuit case, though, the docket sheet offers a sharper settings trail. MEC keeps a chronological record of filings and electronic events. It calls this the docket sheet and Events List. After you register, PAMEC can surface notices, setting-related events, and any available e-documents for a Chickasaw County case. The Third Circuit information page lists Chickasaw County's Houston and Okolona Circuit Court locations. Both went live in MEC on February 24, 2025.

Treat a setting entry as a lead, not gospel. Check the details closely. If the date, time, room, court, or status seems unclear, confirm with the clerk rather than trusting the screen. The court publishes no local reset-notification workflow. A notice of setting and a reset can show up as separate events, so read the newer entry against the rest of the Chickasaw County docket history before drawing any conclusion.

When a Court Date Moves

A continuance or reset simply means a scheduled event moved. The docket may label the change in several ways. It could read reset, a continued event, a notice of setting, or a new trial setting. A moved entry never means the case ended. Write down the court and case number. Note the former date, the new date if shown, the event type, and the date the entry was added. Then confirm the current status with the clerk or court.

For public nonrestricted Circuit cases, PAMEC may display notices and events. The Third Circuit MEC Court Information page identifies Chickasaw County's two Circuit locations. It is not a case calendar. When an online entry shows no replacement setting, the safest Chickasaw County route is a call to the clerk who keeps that court's file. Follow up in person if the clerk directs you.

Chickasaw County Lower-Court Calendars

Justice Court Post 1 in Houston and Post 2 in Okolona sit apart from Circuit Court. Each keeps its own clerk and docket channel. The municipal courts in Houston, Okolona, and New Houlka are city-specific too. So a traffic citation, city ordinance matter, misdemeanor, or small civil case may belong with a lower-court clerk rather than the Circuit Clerk.

Okolona offers an nCourt Municipal Court portal for payment-related information. It does not provide a full date-search workflow. Houston and New Houlka post no separate official online citation-search page. Call the clerk to verify any date. Use the relevant municipal or Justice Court office. Never infer a date from the Chickasaw County Circuit or Chancery calendar.

Missed Settings and What Comes Next

Missing a Chickasaw County setting calls for fast action. First, figure out which court and district the case sits in. Then pull up the case number. With those details in hand, call the right clerk or court and ask where things stand and when the next setting falls. If a lawyer is on the case, reach out to that lawyer too. A clerk can read the public scheduling entries in the file out loud for you. That is where the help ends. The clerk cannot give legal advice or guess what relief a court might grant.

Missed a Setting? A missed Chickasaw County court date can have serious case consequences, including a capias, bond-forfeiture, or other court action depending on the matter.

Contact the court or clerk promptly, preserve the case details, and ask whether a new setting, order, or appearance instruction is on file.

For advice about a missed setting or a pending criminal consequence, consult a licensed attorney before taking action in court.

Note: A clerk can tell you the current public docket status. Only the court itself can change a Chickasaw County setting.
